Overwhelming Expenses for Medications

Living on a fixed income, Helen faced eviction from her home, an empty oil tank in the middle of winter, and credit card debt for her medications. Then a volunteer from the AARP Foundation’s Money Management Program helped Helen regain control of her finances through a realistic budget and other assistance — preventing financial disaster for Helen.

Suddenly Out of Work

Robert worked 20 years in his field — then one day found
himself without a job. After going to 10 interviews with no success, he wondered if he’d ever get hired again. Then the AARP Foundation’s WorkSearch Initiative helped him discover new options and local leads. Within two weeks, Robert
had a job!

Fixed Income Not Enough

For Sue and Bill, their income from Social Security just wasn’t enough to make ends meet. Thankfully, the AARP Foundation’s Benefits Outreach Program linked them with government programs they were entitled to that helped pay for basic necessities. Sue was overwhelmed with relief!
